Review by hotel critic
As a history teacher from Madrid, I appreciate places that resonate with the past, and Ryokan Sanga did not disappoint. The experience of sleeping on traditional futons and tatami mats was both comfortable and nostalgic. The atmosphere of the ryokan is serene, with respectful exchanges among guests, fostering a sense of tranquility. One of the standout features is the onsen. After a long day exploring Kyoto, unwinding in the spacious public bath was rejuvenating. I was also pleased to find that my tattoos did not hinder my access to the baths, a concern at many ryokans. The breakfast was generous, presenting a delightful array of small dishes that truly showcased Japanese cuisine. This culinary experience is worth noting, especially for those with hearty appetites. While Ryokan Sanga offers a unique experience steeped in tradition, I recommend guests watch an informative video on cultural protocols before arriving. If you're seeking a blend of luxury and authentic Japanese hospitality in a well-preserved setting, Sanga provides solid value without compromise.
